Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston began in 1903. After witnessing the appalling social conditions of Boston’s immigrant and predominantly Catholic population, Archbishop John J. Williams of Boston envisioned an agency that would provide assistance and hope to families in need. Our agency has changed through the years, what began as primarily an adoption and foster agency evolved into a multi-million dollar nonprofit to directly assist young, poor, and elderly people of all faiths as well as newly-arrived immigrants. Today, Catholic Charities is one of the largest social service non-profit organizations in Massachusetts–and our over 70 programs help us serve our neighbors, regardless of religion, race, gender, age, disability, or ethnicity. https://www.ccab.org/about-us/
